BIRTHDAYS and golden people

This week has been crazy!! The biggest miracle happened.  So we have been doing face paint proselyting the last couple of days and it has turned out really fun.  I was sitting at our table and this girl runs up with her boyfriend and starts talking to me while I am painting on her face and she asked if I understand Korean and I was like YES!  And she just stated talking.  And she was telling me that her family are Buddhists and that today she said her first prayer asking him if he was there and telling him she wanted to know more about him.  And then she saw me face painting and had a feeling she had to come up and talk to me.  And that is where we were at.  And I was just sitting there so shocked and trying to paint her face and talk to her.  So I told her our purpose as missionaries is to teach people about Christ and who he is and I bore my testimony about The Church and how it has helped my life and we got into this huge conversation that was amazing!  And I gave her a Book of Mormon and told her if she wants to really learn that she needs to read this book and she promised me she would and she gave me her phone number so we can meet later.  But it was such a testimony builder to me.  Sometimes in missionary work we are doing everything we can and we are trying so hard and we get nothing.  But when you're about to give up and you're on the very edge God gives you someone like her to show you that he is there and that he cares about you.

Nothing else really happen this week.  Two of our Elders had birthdays this weeks so we threw together two supervised parties for them and one ended up with us all getting in a cake fight with spoons.  It was super fun!!

We also went and visited one of our members in the hospital on Sunday and it was really good.  She had been in the hospital for a week because of some pregnancy problems and the Elders came in to the room and they saw her stomach because they were checking the machine and when they saw her stomach and they like ran outside and wouldn't come in because they felt super uncomfortable and it was super funny.
Have a good week

MIRACLE WEEK

This week has been a week full of miracles, let me explain...
The first miracle:
This week we decided to go and heart attack some of our member's doors.  So we went to their apartment complex and to get into their building you need a code.  Well we didn't have a code and it was pouring down rain and we didn't have an umbrella so we couldn't exactly sit and wait for someone to come home and walk in.  So we said a prayer and then we had the idea to go downstairs to the parking lot and try and find a way in through there.  And when we went downstairs, the door that we needed to go up to her house was wide open while all the other doors were locked.  Then we went and to do another member's and we had the same problem, so we prayed again went downstairs and someone was walking into the exact door that we needed to heart attack our members it was such a miracle.
The second miracle
Our ward mission leader took us out to a restaurant to eat dinner and while I was up grabbing food one of the staff ran up to me super excited to see me.  It took me a second to realize who she was.  I had met this girl on the bus over three times and I have met her while we were out talking to people over three times.  And this girl and I got along so well, but I could never get her number to meet again because she is in high school in the year where they take all of their tests and she is too busy to meet.  But there she was again before me, I truly thought a lot about her and I lost hope that I would ever see her again.  After talking to her for a while she gave me her number and she wants to meet with us again.  I am so so excited about that!
The third miracle
We were walking to a member's house this Sunday to go and have dinner with them.  And we started talking to this lady right in front of our member's house and while we were talking to her she invited us into her house to have some fruit and we called out members and they told us that it was okay if we were late and we went to this ladies house and started talking with her.  It was really cool she started telling us about her son.  He moved to America and bought a bike and he biked across all of America through Mexico and then down to Spain by himself, and he wrote a book about it.  And I was asking her if she was nervous about him while he was on this adventure and she said yes.  So I asked her how she got through it.  And she said prayer and reading her bible.  So then I started talking to her about prayer and how with our belief in God we are able to receive so much strength and now she wants us to come back again and meet with her again.  So we are super excited about that.
The Fourth Miracle
Our investigator is still getting baptized!!!!!  We taught her twice this week and it went super good and she still wants to get baptized and so I still think that is the biggest miracle.
This week has been a REALLY GOOD WEEK and I am so grateful for the Lord and for him answering my prayers.  I think something I have found on my mission is that the Lord will provide a way for you to do his work.  It doesn't matter the challenges that you have, if it's no people in your area, a bad companion, you're hurt, or something else.  That as long as you have faith and are trying, he will help you!  Sometimes it is not in the timing that you want, but it always is always worth the wait!
love you all

ups and downs

Things I have learned on my mission;
Language doesn't matter
Korean food it really good
We are given hard times for a reason
There are ups and downs in life
Gods loves everyone individually
I love my family more than anything

This week has been really interesting.  The first thing is the investigator that had a baptism date this week dropped us out of the blue.  And at first we were really heartbroken and it was so sad seeing her give up something that would give her so much happiness.  But I know God has a plan with his timing, so later on she will remember the gospel and how much it helped her in her life and she will return back to it.
Another thing we did it was we went on exchanges and it was a blast.  So where I live in Jeju it is all Chinese people on vacation.  So we have been trying to figure out how to talk to Chinese people.  And this week we have found some simple english, a few chinese words, pictures, and with lots of help from the Spirit we are able to talk to them.  And it is amazing!  They are so willing to listen to us and they want to learn more.  So now we are emailing all of these Chinese people and it is amazing how the Lord is working through us.  We also promised one of our investigators who is 10 that if she prays every single night she won't have nightmares.  And we have been praying that this little girl will pray and have no nightmares.  And I am happy to say prayers work!  This little girl had no nightmares every single time she prayed!  We were so happy!  It really was just a huge miracle for her, showing that God is there and that he loves her and is looking out for her.  Well I hope you have a good week. Sending lots of love!!

BEDNAR!!!!

This week was super exciting and we had Elder Bednar come to our mission to do a mission tour!!! Ahhhh I was so excited.  Since my new area is so far away, we got to go sleep over at one of the other missionaries house the night before and then we woke up at 4 and traveled to Busan so we could meet President Bednar!!

It was super fun and I learned so much from his talk he gave to us.  The biggest thing that I learned though it that we need to act on our prayers.  We can pray as much as we want, but if we don't act and do our very best to fulfill our prayers Heavenly Father isn't going to help us.  So I have learned that I need to do as much as I can, and then Heavenly Father will help me with what I can't do on my own.

We also started decorating for a Halloween party that we are going to do with the branch so I am super excited about that and you will hear all about it next week!!

See if you can find me!!

Rain and baptism‏

This week we had a baptism!!!  Her name is 한상주(han-song-joo).  She is 19 years old.  The missionaries met her a couple of week before I came into the area and she is the cutest girl!! You can tell that she really knows this gospel is true.  The day the baptism was suppose to happen it was pouring that morning and the day before.  My companion and I were super worried that the baptism would be cancelled because of the weather.  So we prayed.  And it was still raining, but as soon as all of us went to the river for the baptism it stopped raining and it was a super cool experience.  Once the baptism was finished it starting raining again.  The Lord does answer our prayers!!

After the baptism my companion and 한상주 wanted to go eat something new.  So we went and ate pig guts.  Like the intestines and liver and heart.  It was ok I didn't like it that much so I mostly just sat there eating rice and then I would kinda pretended to eat the meat.  But it was nasty so I really didn't eat that much.  But I probably will have to eat worst things here.

This week it has not stopped raining one bit.  And it's crazy because I thought it was suppose to be summer not monsoon season.  So we are pretty much wet all the time.  We also found theses things called mellon bars and they are amazing!!  I really can't stop eating them.  They are just the best ice cream bars know to man.

We also went on splits this week and I got to go to a bigger city and it made me grateful for my little country side.  It was so crazy how many people we got to talk to in such a short time and how packed it was.  There are four other missionary companionships in my area and we can walk everywhere or take a bus or train if we need to.

Love you all and happy fourth of July!!
