BIRTHDAYS and golden people

This week has been crazy!! The biggest miracle happened.  So we have been doing face paint proselyting the last couple of days and it has turned out really fun.  I was sitting at our table and this girl runs up with her boyfriend and starts talking to me while I am painting on her face and she asked if I understand Korean and I was like YES!  And she just stated talking.  And she was telling me that her family are Buddhists and that today she said her first prayer asking him if he was there and telling him she wanted to know more about him.  And then she saw me face painting and had a feeling she had to come up and talk to me.  And that is where we were at.  And I was just sitting there so shocked and trying to paint her face and talk to her.  So I told her our purpose as missionaries is to teach people about Christ and who he is and I bore my testimony about The Church and how it has helped my life and we got into this huge conversation that was amazing!  And I gave her a Book of Mormon and told her if she wants to really learn that she needs to read this book and she promised me she would and she gave me her phone number so we can meet later.  But it was such a testimony builder to me.  Sometimes in missionary work we are doing everything we can and we are trying so hard and we get nothing.  But when you're about to give up and you're on the very edge God gives you someone like her to show you that he is there and that he cares about you.

Nothing else really happen this week.  Two of our Elders had birthdays this weeks so we threw together two supervised parties for them and one ended up with us all getting in a cake fight with spoons.  It was super fun!!

We also went and visited one of our members in the hospital on Sunday and it was really good.  She had been in the hospital for a week because of some pregnancy problems and the Elders came in to the room and they saw her stomach because they were checking the machine and when they saw her stomach and they like ran outside and wouldn't come in because they felt super uncomfortable and it was super funny.
Have a good week

MIRACLE WEEK

This week has been a week full of miracles, let me explain...
The first miracle:
This week we decided to go and heart attack some of our member's doors.  So we went to their apartment complex and to get into their building you need a code.  Well we didn't have a code and it was pouring down rain and we didn't have an umbrella so we couldn't exactly sit and wait for someone to come home and walk in.  So we said a prayer and then we had the idea to go downstairs to the parking lot and try and find a way in through there.  And when we went downstairs, the door that we needed to go up to her house was wide open while all the other doors were locked.  Then we went and to do another member's and we had the same problem, so we prayed again went downstairs and someone was walking into the exact door that we needed to heart attack our members it was such a miracle.
The second miracle
Our ward mission leader took us out to a restaurant to eat dinner and while I was up grabbing food one of the staff ran up to me super excited to see me.  It took me a second to realize who she was.  I had met this girl on the bus over three times and I have met her while we were out talking to people over three times.  And this girl and I got along so well, but I could never get her number to meet again because she is in high school in the year where they take all of their tests and she is too busy to meet.  But there she was again before me, I truly thought a lot about her and I lost hope that I would ever see her again.  After talking to her for a while she gave me her number and she wants to meet with us again.  I am so so excited about that!
The third miracle
We were walking to a member's house this Sunday to go and have dinner with them.  And we started talking to this lady right in front of our member's house and while we were talking to her she invited us into her house to have some fruit and we called out members and they told us that it was okay if we were late and we went to this ladies house and started talking with her.  It was really cool she started telling us about her son.  He moved to America and bought a bike and he biked across all of America through Mexico and then down to Spain by himself, and he wrote a book about it.  And I was asking her if she was nervous about him while he was on this adventure and she said yes.  So I asked her how she got through it.  And she said prayer and reading her bible.  So then I started talking to her about prayer and how with our belief in God we are able to receive so much strength and now she wants us to come back again and meet with her again.  So we are super excited about that.
The Fourth Miracle
Our investigator is still getting baptized!!!!!  We taught her twice this week and it went super good and she still wants to get baptized and so I still think that is the biggest miracle.
This week has been a REALLY GOOD WEEK and I am so grateful for the Lord and for him answering my prayers.  I think something I have found on my mission is that the Lord will provide a way for you to do his work.  It doesn't matter the challenges that you have, if it's no people in your area, a bad companion, you're hurt, or something else.  That as long as you have faith and are trying, he will help you!  Sometimes it is not in the timing that you want, but it always is always worth the wait!
love you all

Mistakes are Miracles!

This week has been full of miracles!
The biggest thing that happened this week was a blessing for serving in two areas.  So I have two areas and I don't know how to spell their names in Korean so I am just going to say S and H for their names to describe this story.
So this week my branch president of S called me and asked me to go and visit some members. So I went and called them and one lady I called was 이영화(lee-yong-hwa).  So I called her and the biggest thing happened was she told me she is bringing a friend to church this Sunday that she has been thinking about inviting for a while and that she wants us to come to church and meet her, but she told us she was coming to H church.  And we were a little confused about why she was coming to H church, but we didn't think anything of it.  So Sunday came around and we had her friend come with her 3 daughters to Church and we also had one of our investigators, Jen, come to church.  We have been trying to get her to come to church for a while now and so that was another miracle!  But then last night I called the S branch president and told him that  이영화 came to church in H.  And then he explained to me that it was 이양화**(lee-yang-hwa).  So I had accidentally got the names switched up when I called the wrong member....... But that was the miracle!!  If I never would have called the wrong member we wouldn't have gone to the H church that week and we would of never met that family that is willing to hear about the gospel more because the member would of not brought her friend to church.  It's amazing to see the Lord's hand in our life and sometimes we make mistakes and it's the Spirit working through us to help progress his work!

We also met a lady on the street who we had met earlier that week. We had gotten her number, but she got a new phone so we couldn't call her.  She was so excited to meet us again and so we set up a appointment to meet with her this week. I t was such a cool experience to see all the miracles we experienced yesterday.

We also went and had lunch with one of members in our ward and he was just such a sweet old man. He kept telling us about how he has copied all of the scriptures into his own hand writing and it was crazy how long it took him!  But it was super fun.ㅣove 이 자매

We also struggled with taking pics this week sorry haha.

Miracles

This week we have seen a lot of miracles.  The first thing that I have seen is I can actually speak Korean well enough to survive.  Haha so what I mean is right now with my companion, Sister Holyoak, I am follow up training her and she doesn't speak Korean at all because she is so new.  So I am required to translate everything and to write all our texts, and records and talk to everyone.  Before I have been able to do that, but I always had a companion that I could double check everything with and just make sure I am doing everything right.  But this transfer I feel so blessed with the gift of tongues and it's really cool to see that when the Lord requires you to do something, he will help you fulfill it.

Another miracle we saw this week was with our investigator Jen.  Jen is from the Philippians and she is Catholic, but she likes learning about different religions and she really likes our church and the differences we have in our church compared to her church.  We were able to meet with Jen this week and we taught her a really good lesson about the commandments and how it's important that we keep them.  And the lesson went really well.  But then this happened a few days later..... So we were getting ready to go to English class and Jen called us and was kind of frantic.  So her husband had gotten really sick and had to go to the hospital.  And she wanted us to come over and pray with her.  It turned out the hospital was right in front of our church in 호계.  So we ended up not going to English class and rushed over with the Elders so maybe they could give her husband a priesthood blessing.  It turned out we couldn't give him a blessing because we couldn't get inside the hospital room.  So instead we just prayed with her outside of the hospital room, and then afterward we went and showed her our church because it was so close!  And it was amazing!  She asked so many question about everything in our church and we just sat there for an hour answering her questions.  It was really cool experience.  She wasn't able to make it to church that week, but it was such a good meeting and we could see the Lord's hand that day helping Jen come closer to Christ.  That's just one of the miracles we saw this week!

I also just got told they are booking our airplanes tickets for me to come home and that is so crazy!!
I still feel like I just got here in Korea and I am not ready to go home yet!!
Have a good week!

Miracles are everywhere!

This week has been very big!
The first thing was Elder Oaks came to our mission and talked to us!  It was such a good experience and I have been so lucky on my mission to be visited by so many Apostles of the Lord.  You can tell that they are talking through the Spirit when they are answering the questions that are hard to answer.

The day that Elder Oaks came to our mission was a day full of miracles.  That morning we were proselyting and we were having no luck.  Everyone was ignoring us and we couldn't even get people to say hi back to us.  But in the last couple of minutes we found this girl and she said she wanted to meet with us that day, but because we had Elder Oaks coming we were not going to get home until late that night.  So we set up an appointment to meet with her at 8:45pm so we would only have 15mins to meet with her until we had to go home.  But we felt really strongly that we should meet with her that night.  So we set up the appointment and went to see Elder Oaks.  And coming home from seeing Elder Oaks was crazy. First of all the meeting ended late, so we had to literally run to catch the subway home, and right before we got on the subway we realized we didn't have the phone, but we didn't have time to go back.  So we were running around asking people if we could borrow their phone so we could call the Elders to have them bring our phone.  Then we were on the subway and my companion realized she forgot like half of her stuff so we had to borrow someone else's phone to call the Elders again.  And we found a lady who we had been talking with on the subway earlier again and she let us borrow her phone.  And then we ran from the subways to the bus and caught the bus right before it left, and then once we got off the bus we took a taxi to the church.  And somehow we got to the church at 8:40.  And the girl ended up not showing up... but it was okay. Because we saw so many miracles that day.  It just showed me that the Lord is on our side and he is going to do everything he can to help us out, but everyone has their agency.  So they can choose to meet with us or not to meet with us, and they choose to talk to us or ignore us.  But the Lord is going to put us in their way so they have the option to choose for themselves.  It was a super crazy night, but a good one.

This week has been pretty normal, proselyting, English class, studying, teaching, and just being busy. I have learned everyday there are miracles happening you just have to search for them and if you can't find them, you can make them!!
have a good week! 사랑해요 ~

Massages

This week has been one of the best weeks on my mission so far!!  There have just been all these miracles we are seeing, people wanting to get baptized, helping people get to the temple, it  has just been really good!
So funny story that just happened.  Earlier this week we met a lady on the bus who stopped us and told us she wanted to learn english and that she would give us free massages for it.  Well my companion has a really bad back and we have been trying to find a masseuse for her and so this was a really big answer to our prayers.  So today we set up an appointment to go and meet with her and so my companion could get that massage.  But it turned on her.  So we first walked in and there was this oriental man sitting there with a ponytail just listing to zen music.  We really had no idea what was going on.  So we started talking to him and then all of the sudden they told us their priest was coming,  and we are so confused.  So they made us go into this massage room and there was a priest sitting there...... and he asked if we can pray.  So we prayed together and then he asked if we came prepared to learn about Christ... and my companion's face and mine were so confused.  We tried to tell them that we were here to teach them about Christ, but obviously we don't think they understood.  So we told them that we had another appointment and that we really needed to go and then we left as fast as week could.  And it was really just awkward and it was just super funny.

But this week has been super good we are seeing miracles every single day and it's amazing!  I don't think I have ever met more prepared people in my life.  It's amazing to see how the Lord has prepared people here on the island of Jeju.
Have a good week!

Miracles

I don't think I have ever been this sad or happy on my mission.  So the first thing that happened this week was we were teaching one of our investigators and she has had so much potential in the gospel. She has been coming to church every Sunday and has been keeping our commitments.  And then this week she told us she doesn't believe in anything that we have taught her.  That the BOM is not a true book and it doesn't fit her life style and that she doesn't was to meet anymore.  And it was a literally a heart breaking experience for me.  It just made me so sad that someone I have loved so much choose to reject something that would give them so much happiness.  So after that experience happened I was really confused about what God's plan was for me in this mission.

... but then the miracle happened.  We were with the Elders going to a meeting and they got a call from this lady and the Elders couldn't understand her so they gave the phone to us.  And this lady was curious about our church so we set up a appointment to meet with her after our meeting.  When we went and met with her we were able to hear her story.  She used to drive by the church everyday and felt like she needed to learn more about it.  So one day a couple of years ago she went to the church on a random day and nobody was there.  She kinda just forgot about it until a couple of days ago when she felt like she needed to learn more about the church.  So she googled the name and found out number on lds.net and it took her a couple of days to call us because she was scared, but finally she called us.  When I heard this I was seriously so amazed!  This lady is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met!!
She has so many questions about our church and so we are just trying to answer them the best we can.  She ended up coming to church this Sunday and the members just fell in love with her, they all couldn't stop talking and they were all being such good member missionaries.  It was one of the best things I have seen on my mission.

I have learned this week that we really have to follow God's plan.  We might have a way that we want to go, but God really does give us miracles in our lives and I have seen it through this one investigator this week!
I love you all!!
