Earthquakes and JAIL‏

This week we had 3 EARTHQUAKES and they were pretty big ones 5.3!!  That is the strongest one I have felt while on my mission!!  We were having FHE at the church all of the sudden out of nowhere the church started shaking and I jumped up and started freaking out and everyone else was just still sitting calm.  You can still tell earthquakes are a new thing for me, but we continued with FHE and then like 30 mins later another one happened when we were leaving and this one was even bigger.  So we all decided to go home.  We weren't very excited to go home because our house is on stilts.  Like there is only 6 little pillars holding our house off the ground.  When we got inside our home the elders came up and told us we weren't allowed to be in our house for a while.  So we grabbed a bunch of stuff and waited outside of our house until we got the clear to go inside.  But let's just say we were praying hard that night that we weren't going to die in out house.  Then the next morning during our studies we had another earthquake!!!  Ahh so crazy, but that was all the earthquakes for this week.

It also was a Korean holiday this week.  So we went to Busan and did a 5k run there and ate lunch.  It was super fun I got to see Kim and Brady (my MTC companion and my favorite Korean ever).
Also because this week was a holiday no one was out.  It was pretty much like Thanksgiving, but in Korea.  So instead we baked cookies for the whole entire ward and made message cards to give them.

It also has been poring raining this week.  So we have been getting super wet.  One day on our way to an activity the elders called us and told us they had forgot their umbrellas at the church.  And so we had to go pick them up.  Well it was raining so bad that day that by the time we got to the church to get them, we were soaked.  There was not one spot that was dry because the rain decided to go horizontal instead of vertical, Korean rain is so weird like that sometimes.  But it makes life fun!!

We also went to JAIL this week.  Our elders have a investigator in jail and we wanted to meet him so we went with them.  And it was the weirdest thing.  I could escape from a Korean jail so easy!!!  They have no barb wire or dogs.  It's just a building, no fences or nothing!!!!  It was so weird.  The guy even came in with no handcuffs, and when the visit was over he left and put himself in jail!!!! I am still shocked by this.  Like completely shocked, Koreans are such nice people even in jail! Wow!

PUPPIES, RAIN, AND HAWAII!!‏

This week we had this huge activity planned to try and find more investigators.  Our Ward Mission Leader wanted us to plan a Hawaiian party and teach people how to hula and do the haka and then eat afterward.  We went to a member's work and got invitations made and we asked for 100 invitations. And when we got there they had made us over 500 invitations to pass out.  So we were determined to get people there.  We split the stack in half with our Elders and we went out and were handing the invitations to everyone.  My companion and I passed out our 250 invitations and so we went and took over 100 invitations from our Elders and passed them out.  And we had people telling us that they were coming so we were super exited!  We also were going to our really country areas and were handing out invitations to our less actives in that area.  We found the cutest dog when we were out there!  She had puppies and you could tell all she wanted was for someone to love her.  So we kept playing with her and her puppies while we were waiting for the bus.  We were having so much fun passing out the invitations and talking to a lot of people.  We ended up passing out over 420 invitations to people on the street and the day of the party happened and no one person showed up... not ever our Ward Mission Leader who planned it with us!  It was just so funny!!  So we ended up going and grabbing two of our members from their house and we went along with the activity and then our Branch President came with his family and we taught them.  We ended up having a really good time with them.  The activity didn't turn out how we wanted it to, but it was a really strong testimony builder for me.  That sometimes things don't happen like you want them to, but God has a different plan and maybe all of those people we handed out invitations to were not ready for the gospel then.  But later they will be!!  That's something I have learned a lot on my mission.  And to always be positive because negativity never gets you anywhere!

One day we were out proselyting and one of our members called us to come over to her house to eat right then.  We went over and all of the sudden it started raining out of the middle of nowhere.  And we didn't have any umbrellas so we just walked to the members house in the rain.  By the time we got there we were completely soaked!!  We were just dripping wet.  It was funny to see her face when she saw us so wet.  But it was a good day!!

We have also been proselyting a lot with the origami fortune tellers we made and we have been getting a lot more success with them.  So we're having fun with them!  We also went on a hike today to a top of a mountain.

Rain and baptism‏

This week we had a baptism!!!  Her name is 한상주(han-song-joo).  She is 19 years old.  The missionaries met her a couple of week before I came into the area and she is the cutest girl!! You can tell that she really knows this gospel is true.  The day the baptism was suppose to happen it was pouring that morning and the day before.  My companion and I were super worried that the baptism would be cancelled because of the weather.  So we prayed.  And it was still raining, but as soon as all of us went to the river for the baptism it stopped raining and it was a super cool experience.  Once the baptism was finished it starting raining again.  The Lord does answer our prayers!!

After the baptism my companion and 한상주 wanted to go eat something new.  So we went and ate pig guts.  Like the intestines and liver and heart.  It was ok I didn't like it that much so I mostly just sat there eating rice and then I would kinda pretended to eat the meat.  But it was nasty so I really didn't eat that much.  But I probably will have to eat worst things here.

This week it has not stopped raining one bit.  And it's crazy because I thought it was suppose to be summer not monsoon season.  So we are pretty much wet all the time.  We also found theses things called mellon bars and they are amazing!!  I really can't stop eating them.  They are just the best ice cream bars know to man.

We also went on splits this week and I got to go to a bigger city and it made me grateful for my little country side.  It was so crazy how many people we got to talk to in such a short time and how packed it was.  There are four other missionary companionships in my area and we can walk everywhere or take a bus or train if we need to.
